How to Reset WordPress Admin Password from cPanel and phpMyAdmin

This is a quick and easy method to reset your WordPress admin password from cPanel and phpMyAdmin. As a web site designer, business owner, or internet marketer you have probably experienced the feeling of going to login and not remembering what your password is! It’s actually quite simple to reset…just follow the steps below as outlined in the video.

  1. Log into your cPanel account and click the link for phpMyAdmin
  2. Click on the database that is listed for your site
  3. Locate the wp_users table and click to open it
  4. Locate the admin user and click on the edit link to open the record
  5. Enter your new password in the ‘user_pass’ field
  6. Make sure to select ‘MD5’ from the drop-down list to the left of the password box
  7. Click on the ‘GO’ button at the bottom to save.
  8. Make sure to take note of the user_login name if you don’t know it
  9. Go back to your WordPress admin login page and try your new password.
  10. Voila!
